Adding record type "letter" to Zotero

Hello, I have just started looking at Zotero. I have set on my webpages a few meta name: title, description, date, type, rights and so on...
But now I want adding a record of type "letter" (not web page) to Zotero. I have hundreds of letters to archive. But Zotero adds web pages category, not letter. And so I must select it manually. Does anyone know how automatically adding letters, or others type of documents - not generic webages - to Zotero? I saw that MIT Barton Library adds books to Zotero, automatically. Is it possible to do the same for letters?
Thanks.
  • Zotero can ingest structured metadata about a wide variety of items. The item type is irrelevant, what matters is that the data is structured in a way that makes it easy to import. As you mention MIT's Barton Library adds books, other sites add different kinds of items (for example you can grab pictures from Flickr or news paper articles from the New York Times, or blog posts from Zotero's blog. Zotero can do the same thing for letters, but only if they are accompanied by structured metadata.

If you have the bibliographic information for the letters in a structured format, like RIS, or BibTeX, you can most likely bring them over with all their data automatically. However if you simply have a set of scanned images or your own notes you will need to manually enter the items.
