PythonExt and Firefox 11.0 incompatibility

Hello,

This morning, I installed Firefox 11.0, and this has led to a problem with my Zotero: I can no longer add any citations.

My version of Word 2008 (for Mac) is 12.3.1, which runs on Mac OS X (version 10.6.8).

I was able to install "Zotero for Mac Integration 3.5.1." Howevr, when I tried to install "PythonExt (Firefox extension; build 111220)" I got the following error message: "PythonExt could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 11.0."

What is more frightening is that my library seems to have been wiped out in the process.

Please help!

    You don't need PythonExt.

    The update to Firefox 11 shouldn't have wiped out anything, but with start with http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data#where_did_my_items_go

    Thank you. I deleted Firefox and Zotero, reinstalled both, and now most of the previous errors are gone. I can see all the files in my library as well as the "Zotero" button at the bottom of my Firefox browser.

    However, I've run into a new problem. Somehow, I can't edit citations in Word without opening "Zotero Standalone" program. Previously, I'd been able to edit/add citations when I had only Firefox open. Can you shed light on what I did and how I can use the previous method of editing/adding citations?

    re-install the Zotero Word plugin in Firefox:

    Thanks. I checked my Add-ons and it appears that "Zotero for Mac Integration 3.5.1" is already installed.

    what's the exact message that you get when you're trying to cite in Word with Standalone closed?

    When I attempt to add a second citation into a pre-existing footnote, I get a pop-up with this message:

    "Zotero experienced an error updating your document.

    [Exception... "'The operation couldn't be completed.
    (OSStatus error -1728.) @[insertFieldRaw: /Users/simon/Desktop/Devleopment/FS/zotero-word-for-mac-integratio/build/src/document.m:1289]' when calling method:
    [zoteroIntegrationDocument::InsertField" nsresult:
    "0x8057001e (NS_ERROR_XPC_IS_THREW_STRING)"

    And when I attempt to edit a pre-existing citation, I get the following pop message:

    "You must place the cursor in a Zotero citaiton to edit it."

    But when Zotero standalone is open, neither errors appears.

    Looks like something is wrong with the plugin - Simon will have to take a look.

    Thanks for fixing the issue! I downloaded & installed the latest "Word for Mac Plugin 3.5.2 (Firefox extension)" (http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_installation_for_zotero_2.1#microsoft_word). Then I restarted Firefox and everything works again.

    no, it doesn't need pythonext anymore and yes, you can update.

    I'm using Firefox 11 and Office 2011 for Mac. I installed the latest Word plugin (3.5.2) and I'm getting the error message "OSStatus Error -1708", similar to what phg82 saw. I've tried reinstalling the plugin and restarting all applications several times but it's still not working.

    All my data seems to be there in Firefox, so I'm not sure why it's throwing up an error in Word. A little worried!

    djpatterson: provide a report ID after retriggering the error. Also, does this happen in a new document?

    Try these instructions. The error message is different because the plugin has been rewritten, but I think the cause may be the same.

    That solved it, thanks. I had done a custom install of Word and had evidently skipped something needed for the Zotero plugin. I just did a full reinstall and now all is well.
