Adding a web page in Safari

Hi. New to this and grateful for any help. I installed Zotero standalong and am using it with Safari on an Apple Mac OS X. I can't seem to see how I can add a webpage. When I'm on the page, the zotero button is off. In Zotero istelf, under "new item" the long list of items doesn't include web pages.
