ACS publications translator not working

When I tried to save the following page to zotero (clicking the address bar icon)

I received the "could not save item" error.

    Works for me.
    Is that using Zotero for FF or Standalone with a connector?

    I'm using Zotero (2.1.10) for FF (9.0.1). I've reproduced the error from another computer as well, with the same OS (Win7) and software versions.

    There are > 20 ACS journals. I have tried saving zotero records on 4 different journals (ACS Nano, ACS Macro Letters, ACS Chemical Neuroscience, and J Phys Chem A), and the only journal I could not save a record with was ACS Nano. Curiously, I can retrieve the metadata for a pdf (from ACS Nano) imported to zotero.

    sorry, we can't help troubleshoot with old Zotero versions. I'd recommend updating to 3.0.2. If that's not an option, you'll have to live with that translator problem for the time being.

    Odd - FF didn't prompt me to update to v3.0. I didn't know it was out there. Since you're not supporting 2.1.10, you might want to update the known translator issues and troubleshooting translator issues pages to reflect that. Thanks for your help :)

    Hi, I've been having trouble with ACS journals too, specifically JACS. But I've got Zotero 3.0.3 and FF 10.0.2.

    Both metadata and pdf capture appear to be working (J. Phys. Chem. A) with Zotero 3.0.3 and the chrome connector (3.0.3)

    I tried the OP's link and can confirm that the capture did not work.

    However, by removing the hash and the numbers following it from the URL (#nl062962vAF3) allows the page save to work. Where did that text come from? The normal DOI redirect or the ACS search don't usually put that text in the URL field.

    But the translator should also be able to figure that out. I'm not sure how translators work though.

    The translator uses the original URL to get to the URL of the bibliographic data (in RIS format in this case I believe).
    If we know that URLs like this exist, yes, we can generally try to clean up the URL, I can have a look.
    I would be helpful to know where this came from though, so we can see if there's anything else than the # sign we should expect.

    URLs such as the one posted by the OP are now fixed for ACS.
