Help! Need to recover my thesis citations.

Hi,

I am using Zotero 3.0.1 to write my thesis. Completed chapter 1 half a year ago and did all my citations there with Zotero (probably version 2, or whatever was the latest half a year ago).

Then a few months passed, while I was working on chapter 2, I formatted my computer.

Now, I need to start working on the citations for chapter 2, but for some reason I can't synch with my old data.
When I try to synch with my data, my old data library from chapter 1 does not come up. Only the "Zotero Quick Start Guide" appears in my library. I have no information on a new library.

Now I am not sure if I even had synching on when I used Zotero the last time.
I know I was a registered user, and I probably didn't meddle with the defaults of the program so if the default is to synch, it basically should have synched.

I also have a backup of my most of my old drive, so it might be that I still have to backup for the Zotero files. But I don't know where to find them.

What can I do? How can I synch my files with the old one (Through the net or through my old files?)

Thanks!
Ido
  • it doesn't sound like you synced - if this was your username, you can just check to see if there are items under My Library on this site (top left).

As for restoring from an old back-up, see here:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
  • Thank you! It appears my library is on the site. I found 91 references.
However, I can't understand how to synch it with my zotero program.
There is no link to synching on the site. When I click on the synch button in the Zotero add-on I don't get anything...
    How can I synch? Thanks!!!
  • Is your information in the sync tab of the Zotero preferences the same that you're using to log-in to this site? If so, just syncing should work.
