"Zotero experienced an error updating your document" - tried everything

Hi there

I receive an error "Zotero experienced an error updating your document". This happens when I add a citation or attempt to change or insert my bibliography.

I have filed a case under 1115635876.

I'm using Windows 7 x64
MS Word 2007
Firefox 3.6.26

I have searched the forums, and used the steps in Debug a Broken Document (e.g. text into new document, find problematic citation, restart computer). I've even tried reinstalling Zotero. Can anyone help?

    That's a bizarre error. Try upgrading to Zotero 3.0, available from zotero.org, and let us know if you still get that. If so, provide a Debug ID for an operation that causes that.

    I thought I was all up to date, but with the reinstall maybe I accidentally used the old version of Zotero instead??

    i have been getting this error as well, but only after i upgraded to zotero 3.0. This error disappeared after i restarted firefox, and was replaced with something saying that the field code for this item is corrupted, would i like to re-select the item? It is always for a citation other than the one i am trying to insert. When I click "yes", something else coming up saying that zotero experienced an error updating the document and a field code is corrupted.

    I sent an error report - it's number 552841709. I'm using zotero 3.0, Mac OSX, and word 2011 for mac.

    I did make a few changes to my system between filing the error report and upgrading to v3.0, and these may have affected the outcome also:

    1. Uninstalled and removed all possible trace of Mendeley
    2. Uninstall Zotero standalone
    3. Remove all folders for Zotero standalone
    4. Copy and paste text into a new document
    5. Uninstall recently installed styles
    6. Upgraded Firefox 3.x to latest 3.x version
    7. Unintall Zotero extension, scrub PC of Zotero files

    These steps involved numerous restarts to make sure that roaming and local profiles were synchronised (probably won't be a problem on your Mac?).

    If it's saying a field code is corrupted, maybe have you tried copying and pasting the text into a new document (without track changes)?
