Did not quit Firefox before moving library

Hello,
I wanted to move my Zotero library to a folder different from the default Firefox folder, and did so while Firefox and Zotero were still open (!). Only afterwards did I learn that one has to quit the program first and then move the folder. Now when I open Zotero, it does not show any of my files, even if I move them back to the default Firefox folder. Do you know if there is a way to restore my library? I know that the files still exist on my computer, because I can see them in the folders.
Thank you,
Andy E.
  • Did it actually move the zotero.sqlite file?

    Start here:

  • Hi Dan,

Thank you for the tip. I managed to rescue many of the files by resorting to zotero.sqlite.bak. Nevertheless, there are still 254 folders in the Finder, organized by topic, containing PDFs that need to be put into my Zotero database. So far, I have been creating a library for each folder and then copying the PDFs into each library from the corresponding folder. Do you know if there is a faster way of converting folders in the Finder into libraries in Zotero, preferably in bulk?

    Thank you,

    Andy E.

I'm confused—is this related to the above? zotero.sqlite.bak would have been no more than a day old.

  • sorry, question is only partly related. will start new thread.
