Creating a school library catalog -- need help

I want to create a library catalog for our school. It would be nice to use Zotero to input the book information but I'm wondering where to go from there.

I've heard that Koha is a good system. Does it interface well with Zotero? Or is there a way to use Zotero as a library catalog?

Any other suggestions?

Our library is small now but will get quite large in the next few years and it would be nice to choose something now that is easy to use and has the potential to grow with us.
  • I do not know anything about Koha, but Zotero supports a wide range of export formats that you can use to get the data from Zotero to other software.

You could set up a public group library and access that through the Zoter website. However, for a library catalog, this would be very limited.
  • I don't think you can/want to use Zotero as a library catalog.
Commonly, libraries, at least in the US, will get cataloging data from a centralized source like the Library of Congress or OCLC and feed that to the catalog.
If you're on a low budget you can download individual MARC from the LoC.

Generally this strikes me as something that you want to do right from the beginning. There are many, many expert sources on this, e.g. this ALA FAQ:

Thanks! I looked at that link and it may have some suggestions we can use. Since we use Zotero a lot, it would be nice to find one that integrates seamlessly.
