Manually added reference not an option

Hello,

I apologize if someone has already asked this. Perhaps I am not using appropriate search terms to find the correct thread.

When I automatically add to my library by clicking on the icon in the URL bar from abstract pages, etc., I have no problem inserting these citations into my Word document via the plug in.
But, when I added items manually to my library, they don't show up as being in my library when I open my library through the Word plug in.(They are there when I look at my library online.)
Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

  • Have you synced Zotero after adding these items manually?
  • are you adding new items through the web interface? Then you need to sync before they'll be available to the Word plugin.
    More generally, it's probably easier to manually edit and add items in your local version of Zotero.
  • Great! Thanks to both of you! I am a new user and had always just added by clicking on the URL icon, so I didn't even know how to sync. I just synced and everything is working perfectly.
