LibreOffice .xpi extension not recognised

Hi,

I am trying to get started on Zotero but can't seem to get the LibreOffice extension to work.

Having downloaded the .xpi (Zotero-LibreOffice-Plugin-3.5b3.xpi). When i try and install the extension through the LibreOffice extension manager i get the following error:

"Cannot detect media type: [path_to_file_name]/Zotero-LibreOffice-Plugin-3.5b3.xpi"

I can install older versions of the extension .oxt files, but these are not compatible with my firefox extension.

It seems then that the .xpi file is not a LibreOffice extension. In this regard i can't find the LibreOffice .oxt extension.

Can someone tell me where to get the relevant file, or tell me where i am going wrong.

Thanks
  • Ah, i have just managed to solve this. The libreoffice extension goes into firefox, not libreoffice.

Is there any chance of getting some documentation of this, or getting the extension added so that its available within the firefox search?
  • From the top of the plugin installation page:
The word processor plugins are distributed as Firefox extensions, which provide integration support to Zotero and install the necessary components into the word processors. After you have installed a plugin from this page, Firefox will prompt you to install later versions automatically the same way that it does for the Zotero Firefox extension.
And the download links all say "Firefox extension" next to them.

Zotero Standalone already comes bundled with the plugins. We'll probably add a way to download the plugins from with Zotero for Firefox at some point as we well. (We don't bundle them with Z4Fx because they're too big relative to the main XPI.)
