Unable to sync - password problem?

Report ID: 1386320636

I've just tried syncing my Zotero library for the first time without success. When I click on the sync button, I receive an error message that says "The Zotero sync server did not accept your username and password. Please check that you have entered your zotero.org login information correctly in the Zotero sync preferences."

I've entered my username and password in the Zotero sync preference to no effect - each time I re-open the sync preferences, the password field is blank. I've double-checked that the username and password in the Zotero sync preferences matches my password for the Zotero website and forums.

I've also tried closing and re-starting Firefox.

Any thoughts on the next thing to try? Thanks.

Sounds like something might be corrupt in your Firefox installation. Does Firefox remember passwords from websites? Try closing Firefox, moving signons.sqlite in your Firefox profile directory out of the way, and reentering your username/password.

You can also try a new Firefox profile, installing Zotero into it and temporarily pointing it to your existing Zotero data directory via the Advanced pane of the Zotero preferences.
  • Moving signons.sqlite out of my Firefox profile directory doesn't seem to make any difference - after entering my password in Zotero preferences, signons.sqlite re-generates itself in my Firefox profile directory and the password field is blank when I re-open my Zotero preferences.

I'll try setting up a new Firefox profile in the next few days and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks for your help.
