Word 2008 for Mac Integration Error

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to install the word processor integration package but keep getting this error:

"Zotero Word for Mac Integration
Installation could not be completed because an error occurred. Please ensure that Microsoft Word is closed, and then restart Firefox."

I've found this error a number of times on this forum, but so far none of the solutions have helped my case.

I'm running OS X lion, with Firefox 9.0.1 and using Word 2008 & Zotero 2.1.10

I've tried:
1) restarting everything
2) checking my permissions (read/write for all Office folders)
3) removing both PythonExt + the Word for Mac plugins and re-installing them

but the same error persists...

The error report ID is 216874574

Thoughts?
  • Is PythonExt disabled? This is the most common cause of the error I see in your error report. If you're sure it's enabled, then this may be difficult to troubleshoot. Try generating generating real-time debug output for the entire process from starting Firefox to the point where you see the error, and email the result to support@zot..org.
  • Hi Simon,

It seems that PythonExt is enabled (I tried disabling it, then enabling it, but nothing changed).

I emailed the debug results off, so hopefully that will clarify matters.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  • Python doesn't like the colons in your home directory (::ariana::). To get things to work, you'll have to rename your user account to get rid of them by following these instructions.
  • That worked!
Many thanks and happy new year!
