set font size in csl file

When writing dissertation, the freaky requirement by graduate school require the superscript font size to be 16 pt, while the main text to be 12 pt.

If inserting citation, the only thing I can control in <layout> is "vertical-align" to be "sup".

The only solution I have now is to define a character style in Word as "citation", but this is kind of tedious since I have to redefine every single citation I inserted.

Is there any way to define citation font size directly in *.csl file?

Thanks a lot!
  • no there isn't - you should be able to define the font size for superscripts through word, though.
  • This is a very freaky requirement indeed. It is difficult to style footnote references in Word. My advice would be not to worry about it until the very last moment — then you'll either face supervisors who don't even notice it (lucky you) or they'll ask you to change it (too bad, you'll have to go through the document and do it by hand). Whichever it is, it doesn't make sense to worry about it if you're still inserting and changing citations.
