can't delete MS Word plug in

I can't seem to delete the MS Word plug in file from my Word Startup file, so that I can install the more recent version of the MS Word plug in. Whenever I try to delete this file, I get a message that it can't be deleted because the file is open in Word, even though I've closed Word. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

    Thank you for the suggestion. I tried restarting the computer, but still am getting the same message when I try to delete the Word plug in file. If you or anyone else has any other suggestions, they would be most appreciated.

    Hi,

    I agree. The Word plug in cannot be uninstalled in the add-in center in Microsoft Word 2010. The remove option is greyed out. This is after removing the plugin for Word from Firefox and restarting.
