Problem importing references with middle names

Hi there,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I searched the forum for an hour or so.

I import my references from CiteULike (also tried BibTex). Initials of the middle name don't get imported into Zotero. What can I do? I'm not an expert in Zotero...

Thanks a lot in advance!
  • Zotero imports middle names and/or initials just fine - we'd have to be able to look at an example to say where the problem is in this specific case - if your CiteUlike records are public you can post a link here. Otherwise, you could post a sample bibtex that isn't working correctly.
  • Thanks for the fast reply.

    Here's the CiteULike records:

When looking at the first name in Zotero, for example for Donner et al, I only get the first name Tobias, but not the middle name H. Maybe I'm also missing something here.
  • I just noticed: Is is a problem that I have e.g.
Donner, T. H. instead of Donner, T H in CiteULike?
  • Zotero uses the RIS export from citeUlike - if you check that, middle initials are consistently omitted (for whatever reason). Not much we can do there (I guess we could switch to the bibTex, but there may be other reasons against that - the problem with bibTex is that there is not one single standard to rely on).

If I export the Donner et al. article to BibTex and import to Zotero I do get Tobias H., though.
  • I've removed the colon after the initials of the first and middle name in all references and imported it via BibTex without formatting. Now it looks as if it worked.

    Thanks for the help.
