Any problems with searching Google Scholar?

I downloaded 10 pages of refs from Google Scholar with Zotero but when I went back to try another search I received the message:

"We're sorry...

... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.

Has anyone else found this? I will contact Google about it but wonder if there is a limitation to the number of records that can be found with GS?

    Just received a reply from Google. It seems Zotero's searching isn't quite appreciated!

This is for a number of reasons, both technical and due to agreements with content providers. Thus, if Zatero is a program that sends automated queries to our index, please note that you will continue to receive the error message that you referenced in your email. Thanks for your understanding in this matter. We're working hard to improve Google Scholar, and appreciate your support during this process.

    It is not so much the quantity of records, but the speed at which you grab a quantity of records. Zotero is basically doing the same things you would be doing if you were grabbing each of these references. It is not directly querying their index. Still, if you snag 100 references in rapid succession it will throw up a red flag on their end.

    You're probably right. I had access again today and did a smaller search but still downloading 3 pages of 100 each. It locked me out again. Since I am in an acute phase of collecting data I will break down my searches into smaller bites and spread searching over a longer period. Hopefully this won't result in having my IP address completely banned.
