Some citations in Italics

Hi, I have solved a few problems with my Zotero citations in recent days...however this is the last problem ive yet to solve. Some of my citations are in Italics (about 5 out of 110 of them), whereas the rest are not. The other things I tried which solved previous problems (reset style, install new style, show editor) have not fixed this last problem.

Firefox 7.0.1 and Openoffice 3.1.1 with Zotero 2.1.10 and Zotero Openoffice integration 3.5b1. I am saving my files in .odt format
  • Seriously pee'd off at this stage...this problem is really difficult to solve, because even if I change all of my text into Italics and back again, it solves the problem for about 1 minute before the citation decides to go back into Italics.

    Thanks for your help
  • those are just numbers, is that right? We're talking [1-5] - and that's in italics?
This is Frank's territory. My recollection is that the cases of this we had in the past were connected to special characters (like letters with accents or so) in the authors or titles - could that be the case?

Otherwise, I'd be inclined to say try updating Ooo, but I see why you may not want to do that at this stage.
  • To investigate, I would need to reproduce the error locally. I've tried the style and it seems to work correctly. At this stage, the best approach would be to tolerate the stray italics for the remainder of your drafting work, and then strip the Zotero codes from a copy of the document so that you can touch up the document before submission.
  • I discovered a solution which does not involve stipping the Zotero codes.

For the stray citations in Italics (about 5 out of 120) in my .odt document 1. I clicked "Default formatting" in Openoffice over the citation. This meant the citation was no longer in Italics however it was now no longer in superscript.

    2. I clicked "edit citation" on the Zotero open office add on...then i checked the "Show editor" and put the citation back into superscript format.

Finally everything is perfect in the document
  • uh - note the warning displayed above the Show Editor - those numbers won't update anymore, which, if e.g. you inserting a citation before them, could cause you a major headache.
  • Yes I may have encountered that...however I just forgot 1 citation and instead of being added as say number 78...it was added to the end of the bibliography as number 116.

The rest of the citations seem to be in the correct order. At this stage I dont really care...its a bit late now to worry. Just have to hand it in as is. Looks ok...will check some of the citations to make sure they correspond to the Bibliography
