Chicago Manual of Style Problems

I am having several issues with the MS word addin. I am using Chicago full with bibliography.

1. Anytime I paste into the suffix or prefix box zotero crashes.
2. The program never puts a period "." at the end of a footnote.
3. It only uses full journal titles instead of abbreviations.
4. In the bibliography, it puts three dashes "---" insted of one large dash for works by the same author.
5. I need a blank line between each item in the bibliography.

I hope there are some easy fixes. Please let me know and thanks for your time.

    1. Anytime I paste into the suffix or prefix box zotero crashes.
This is a plugin issue; see this thread: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/6068/bug-modifing-citation-in-openoffice-3/
    2. The program never puts a period "." at the end of a footnote.
This is a bug in note styles; there is a ticket for this.
    3. It only uses full journal titles instead of abbreviations.
Journal abbreviations are not standard for CMS so this should not be in the style but perhaps this feature should be added in Zotero as a preference.
    4. In the bibliography, it puts three dashes "---" instead of one large dash for works by the same author.
Should be a 3-em dash. This is now fixed, thanks.
    5. I need a blank line between each item in the bibliography.
Delete this line in the style:
    <option name="entry-spacing" value="0"/>
  • I also need a blank line between each item in the bibliography. Can you please tell me how to get to the place where I can delete the line above (<option name="entry-spacing" value="0"/>)?

    Thank you very much.

it is actually not a whole line anymore (since Zotero 2.1), but just
    entry-spacing="0"
  • Worked perfectly. Thanks very much. It might be helpful to others to know that you have to import the new style into each computer you use.

I have just upgraded to Zotero 3.0 and Firefox 10.0. I am using Word Professional Plus 2010 on a PC. I had been using my modified Chicago Style (see above) before I upgraded to 3.0 and it worked just fine. Now I find it won't update the bibliography to reflect the space I want between entries. I have 'set doc preferences' to my modified style but to no avail. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
