Primo and EEBO

I have read a couple forums from earlier years saying that primo isn't working for people...and it's sporadically working for me. My library site uses it, and I've been able to save two citations, but then it just stopped working. I've re-set translators, and I've disabled other extensions, and still nothing...so any help is welcomed!

Also, whats the status on the database, Early English Books Online? I haven't been able to save anything off of there either. I've checked other databases and websites, and these two are the only ones that aren't working for me. Unfortunately, they are most important for me.
  • always report problems with translators with specific links.
  • I can confirm that EEBO isn't working. It's a cookie issue-- we may have to add another intermediary request to get the RIS, or write a scraper instead.
  • odd - works for me from the records page, e.g. here:
    http://gateway.proquest.com/openurl?ctx_ver=Z39.88-2003&res_id=xri:eebo&rft_id=xri:eebo:citation:27207027
(this leads to chadwyck - they have odd permalinks.)
Search results don't work for me either, though.
  • I was getting empty RIS records, but now it's working for me. Clearly some room for improvement here.
  • well, that's good to know about the EEBO - thanks!

here's one from the library site: http://smartsearch.uiowa.edu/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?&dscnt=2&frbg=&tab=default_tab&dstmp=1319639893676&srt=rank&ct=search&mode=Basic&dum=true&indx=1&tb=t&fromLogin=true&vl%28freeText0%29=susan+dwyer+amussen&vid=uiowa&fn=search
  • ok, thanks, that's helpful, but seems hard to fix.
I'm not sure a working Primo translator is actually feasible, as Primo is essentially a search engine that links to all types of different sources, displayed in different formats.

    More technically:
The translator looks for some XML data which I can't get.
The alternative might be to parse the COinS-type information out of the OpenURLs that Primo uses. I'm not going to touch this one, maybe ajlyon is more motivated.
