cannot install word plugin for mac

have a new MacBook Air (running Lion) and have not been able to get the toolbar to show up in Office Word 2011.

I've attempted to re-install the Word for Mac plugin 2.0 and get the following error message: "Installation could not be completed because an error occurred. Please ensure that Microsoft Word is closed, and then restart Firefox". I've also tried going to Firefox 7.0.1 - Tools - Add-ons - Preferences - Zotero Word for Mac is not currently installed - (same error message).

I followed another discussion that was posted a couple days ago talking about creating a Start up folder in Microsoft Office but I don't know how to do that. Please help!!!

    Which Zotero version you have?

    The current version of the word plugin is 3.1.6

    Also, there is no toolbar in the Mac plugin. It works from the Script menu instead.

    I am using Zotero version 2.1 and tried to install the word plug-in for Mac. I am running Lion on this mac. It won't let me install and says

    I need to close Word and restart Firefox. But I don't even have Word open.

    I am going to try again and look for a number on the error report to post.

    Could you clarify which part of the instructions in the other thread you're not understanding. I'm happy to try to help, but you'd need to be specific.
    Are you able to find:
    /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office ?
    Is there a folder called "Startup"?
    If yes, do you know how to check/change folder permissions?

    Adam, I cannot find an ID or error report number. Where would I find this?

    Say exactly what you see and do. Note that we'd need that error report right after you tried and failed to install the Word plugin.
