Getting started with a Mac

Hi I have been recommended your software by my college tutor, but no matter how hard I try I can not get it to work with my Mac book Pro. Any advice would be greatly received. I am quite computer literate, but new to using a Mac.

    Are you trying to use the FF plugin or Zotero Standalone?
    what exactly isn't working? Can't install? If so, what messages do you get? Once installed something doesn't work the way you want it? If so, what exactly? What have you done to troubleshoot?
    In short - give us a better idea where you're coming from.

    I'm the same as AbbeyJade.
    I downloaded and installed the Zotero Standalone and then downloaded the Standalone Connector for Safari... and then nothing happened.
    Maybe it's because I'm new to Zotero, but I'm not sure where or how the Zortero icon should be on my browser?

    Make sure Zotero standalone is running.
    Then in Safari open a page that you know should have a Zotero icon, such as this one:

    Do you see an icon in Safari? (I think in Safari the Zotero icon is to the left of the URL bar, not at the right end as you'd see in most screencasts.

    Also note that you will have to install the Zotero Connector for Safari (by double-clicking the downloaded file).

    Thanks guys, it's all working great - I was just looking in the wrong place for the Zotero icon!

    I have installed the standalone version and the connector but I can not see the icon when opening the amazon page above.

    Do you see a Z icon to the left of the URL? Does Zotero appear in Safari->Preferences->Extensions?

    I do see the Z icon to the left, however it appears offline and Zotero doesn't appear in the Safari Extensions!?

    I use Firefox and have a macbook - I can not use Zotero in word. It is installed - and I can reg. new items - but not place the ref. in my word document? Hope you understand my problem?

    @Trine: Better to start a new thread. But, first, make sure you've installed the latest word plugin: http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_installation_for_zotero_2.1

    I am RG,

    I recently change my computer and I installed Zotero for MAC http://download.zotero.org/standalone/3.0.8.1/Zotero-3.0.8.1.dmg

    and the connector Zotero Connector 3.0.8.1 for Safari (262 KB) and it appears in Safari-Preferences-Extensions.

    However the icon Z appears offline and I cannot get documents automatically from websites (and I can do it from my other computer- microsoft+firefox.

    Any idea how to solve it?
