Proxy for PubMed NCBI database. Debug ID: D2057670003

I access PubMed through my school's library website, with proxy redirection enabled. When I attempt to log into NCBI, at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, Firefox (and Safari) can not find the page. As soon as I disable the proxy redirect feature, I have no problem.

I am using a "Multi-site" as a host name, with a scheme of http://%h.ezproxy.umassmed.edu/%p

I ran the debugger, and was given the Debug ID: D2057670003

Thanks.

Brian
  • when you go through your school website, with proxy redirection by Zotero disabled, how does a pubmed URL look?

Looks like I still get the error. If I cut off everything after .gov, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

    I don't have a problem. So I guess this isn't a Zotero bug?
  • right - that would be a problem somewhere with how EZproxy works with pubmed at your U.
To prevent Zotero from redirecting pubmed URLs through the proxy, you don't have to disable proxy redirection entirely. You can just double-click on the multi-site proxy setting in the Zotero preferences. A list with all the included site will come up. remove http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov from that list. That should do it.
  • I had already tried what you suggested, and I still have the problem. I will contact my school's library people. Thanks for the quick response and your time!
