No "saving reference" symbol in firefox?
Hi there!
I tried to find answers to that problem, but haven't
been successful, so if there is, just point me out to it.
I have Windows 7, Firefox 6.02 and used to use the
Zotero integration 2.1.8.
I installed the latest standalone and started it, but
could not run Firefox and standalone at the same time,
because of the database problem, fair enough.
So I disabled the Firefox Zotero 2.1.8 in Firefox, I also
later removed it, but did not get the "paper page"
symbol to automatically safe references in Firefox.
It only appears, when I do not run the standalone
and I have the integrated zotero running.
I also tried disabling all other add-ons in firefox.
This is not really functional this way.
What to do? What did I do wrong and how can I
fix this?
Cheers for all help
Mel

Which corresponds to the beta - doesn't it?
I mean, I'm happy to wait and use the add on if there's still too many issues, but it does not look bad otherwise so far.
More advice still appreciated :)
I still don't have the "save reference" symbol (page)
while running the standalone.
I can run both at the same time though.
Is that the basis of "stand alone" or is it still
in development?
'cause if I have to have both, the term stand alone
seems a little misleading.
Cheers Melanie
Standalone means that you can run the application outside of Firefox. That's clearly possible and in no way misleading - in fact, you don't even need Firefox installed on your computer if, e.g., you use the Chrome connector. Also, there is no downside to keeping Zotero installed in Firefox so I'm not quite sure why you're bothered by it.
Standalone is standalone - right?
For me, it would mean, that I do NOT use the
full functionality within Firefox and do NOT have to install
the classical add-on in Firefox to use it.
So with standalone as I would understand it there is only
a smalish plugin in Firefox - the "connector" for the other browsers I'd say.
I had some issues with the zotero plugin being installed, that's why I was interested, this is then not solved for me.
So, it basically hasn't changed much for people who use
Zotero in Firefox, because I could've just opened a second
window with it.
Being independent from the specific browser is good for others.
Well well, guess my question is answered, hope yours is
as well regarding why I bothered.
There's not really a point to it for my particular use then ;)
Cheers Mel
I will keep my fingers of safari if I can avoid
a mac at almost all cost ;)
Cheers at all and sorry for the confusion...
Zotero 3.0b2 for Firefox and Zotero 3.Ob.2.1; but am having a related problem: When standalone is running I can't input sources from Firefox by using the folder, book, article, etc. icons at the right end of the browser.
I can input soures when only running FF and not Standalone.
Hope I'm not being stupid; I think I've installed all the beta components needed to run the standalone, but if I have to close it time each time I need to input a source, then that needs to be resolved.
The problem before was that the folder / paper / book icon in the browser bar wasn't appearing. Sorry for the unnecessary query, the Standalone version and improved Word add-on is great.
