Chrome connector Version: 2.999.1 does not work

Hello,
I am using Zotero Standalone 3.0b2.1 with the Chrome connector v. 2.999.1 on Windows. A problem I am facing is that I get no icon in my address bar when I navigate to any paper. Looking at the extension page for the Zotero connector preferences page in Chrome, I get the following error message:

"[JavaScript Error: "Missing property "translatorID" in translator metadata JSON object in undefined" {file: "chrome-extension://jciblakmllnhbhjjgkbkeihelcndmgnh/zotero/translator.js" line: 403}]"

I would greatly appreciate some advice on getting this to work.
Thanks,
Ashesh

try resetting translators from the Zotero preferences (the Advanced Tab I believe).

I tried this but I get a new error coming up (copied below)...
My internet connection goes through a proxy - is this what is causing a problem. Note that I do not have any trouble saving to Zotero via Firefox.

  • many people use proxies, so in general this shouldn't be a problem, but the way yours behaves might be.
  • It sounds like your proxy is attempting to proxy loopback (local) requests for 127.0.0.1-- sounds like a proxy misconfiguration, since it's sending those local requests over the proxy. You need to add an exception to the proxy for 127.0.0.1.

It should also be possible to save directly to the server and not run into this issue.
  • Thank you for your suggestion - that worked well and I can use Zotero in Chrome now.
  • Hi there,

I think I'm experiencing the same problem trying to use Zotero in Chrome but I don't know how to "add an exception to the proxy for 125.0.0.1." I'm not the most tech savvy person so I'm hoping someone out there will be willing to spell out what I need to do to fix this.

    THANK YOU!
  • could you clarify why you think you're experiencing this problem? I.e. what error do you see exactly?
This exact problem should be quite rare and if you're not computer savvy you're highly unlikely to have a proxy set-up for yourself.
  • Hi adamsmith, thanks for the super speedy reply!

Basically I've installed Zotero stand alone and the beta extension for Chrome but I'm not seeing the Zotero icon in the address bar.

I've tried restarting Chrome, and uninstalling and re-installing the extension a few times to no avail.

I ended up here after seeing this thread: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/19880/zotero-doesnt-sense-records-in-google-chrome/

But now I'm thinking my problem might be different than the one described there.

    Thanks so much!
  • OK, start a new thread - we try to keep one thread per issue.
    There, run through these:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues
as far as they apply to your case (they haven't been updated for connectors/standalone yet).
Report what you tried including URLs of pages you tried and an error report ID as specified on that page.
