Chicago Style double space between references

Hi All,

Is there a way to edit the style of the Chicago Style bibliography so that there is a double space between each reference?

set entry-spacing="1" in the line starting with <bibliography
    general instructions here:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/citation_styles/style_editing_step-by-step

edit.: It's probably also quite easy to do this just by changing the formatting style in your word processor.
  • Sorry I need 1 space after each reference, so I don't understand how I could just change the formatting style in my word processor. That would apply to all of the lines of the bibliography, wouldn't it?

I'm not having any luck changing the entry-spacing to 1. I'm changing this line:
    <option name="entry-spacing" value="0"/>

    Is that correct?

    Thanks.
  • For the word processor - you can adjust the formatting style in Word/Ooo to add an extra line between paragraphs (change the settings for the style called "bibliography")
    http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/modifyastyle.html
Since each bibliography entry ends with a Carriage Returen, that will give you that extra line.

But yes if you want to change the Zotero style, you'd change that line and it should work. Make sure you're getting the style back into Zotero correctly and once it's installed, change styles back and forth once in your Word document.
  • Oh, ok, thank you for the word processor formatting style adjustments. I will try that. I still haven't had any success with the CSL adjustments.

And now I've noticed another problem with the formatting. For some reason, the titles are not italicized in the bibliography. Do I need to change the CSL for that too? Sorry to bother with this, but I haven't had this problem before.
  • I would re-install Chicago style from the repository (you have an old version, anyway) and then maybe delete and re-insert the bibliography. CMoS certainly should have italics.
  • Thank you so much, adamsmith, the spacing is fixed now. Reinstalling the chicago style from the repository now.

    Thank you again
  • I'm having difficulty re-installing chicago style from the repository. How do I check if I have installed it correctly? What do I do after clicking install of the CMos for the repository?
  • Well, I've tried this 3 times now (I re-installed CMos both full note with bibliography) and no luck. It still inserts the references titles without italics. Is the problem that I am adding the bibliography to a document that was made without a bibliography? My footnotes are in the correct style.

have you tried switching to a different style and back?
Installing just entails clicking the install link and then OK when prompted.

also, have you deleted the entire bibliography and tried re-inserting?
  • I did try deleting the entire bibliography and re-inserting, as well as I did make an entirely new document too, none of which worked. But somehow magically while I was playing around with the edit bibliography it corrected the style. I really have no idea what I did, but the bibliography is now in the correct style.

    Thanks again for your help!
