Problem with importing huge data from RefMan

Hello,
I wanted to import the data from our whole institute, stored at the ReferenceManager. I exported it to the desktop and then I wanted to import it in Zotero. The PC worked for 2 hours, but it didn't work at all. Everytime I wanted to start the Zotero library, it takes 5 to 10 minutes and then Firefox collaps. I deleted and reinstalled Zotero but the library is still the same and so it does not work.

    What size is the RefMan library? Did you try importing it in fragments?

    Zotero is known to work fine with libraries on the order of 30-70 thousand items on sufficiently modern computers with plenty of memory. If your institute's net library is something like 300K - 1M, Zotero will have trouble. Zotero is not currently attempting to be a replacement for library catalogs or large-scale institutional repositories (although the developers would still like to remove clear impediments to the creation and curation of such large collections, but this is mainly a matter of scale).

    To clear the library and get Zotero working again, you'll want to delete the Zotero data directory: http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
