Deleting files from storage.
I'm having trouble removing files from my library and storage.
Here's my test case:
I create an item, and add a PDF to it.
I manually trigger Zotero to synch
I visit my storage settings page, and observe that my storage consumption has increased.
I delete the item and file from my local Zotero install. It disappears.
I visit my storage settings page, and observe that my storage consumption has not changed, even after 20 minutes.
My next steps are to backup my local Zotero install, the purge and synch my local library to see if the file remains. Last time I tried this (6 months ago), I was unable to delete the file (it seems that the library item describing it disappears, but the file remains).
Anyone know how to do this? Is this a limitation in the way Zotero does file synchronization?

Since I had the same problem (see http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/14219/webdav-files-not-deleted-/) I can just say that you will have to wait for a fix, since there seem to be some "bigger" errors in zotero.
Don't know if it has been fixed already...maybe someone can comment on that?
It may be the case that it updates in less than 30 days, but not enough time has passed for me to check yet. Manually clicking purge didn't work either, though maybe it's because I already deleted my library, and there's nothing left to delete.
It seems like there are ways to speed up the process, though, if anyone's interested, by changing the about:config settings in Firefox, like schuessi mentioned above.
Deleting files on Zotero File Storage from Zotero and syncing should affect your storage usage immediately. Perhaps you forgot to empty your trash?
Yes, you're right.
I forgot to empty my trash out.
