Vancouver Referencing Problem!!

Hi, I have only recently started using Zotero but am having one major issue. Im referencing using Vancouver style however my citations do not update with my bibliography. To make it clearer, say i have the following citations midway through a document (12,13,14), and i want to add another reference to that sentence. Well yes it inputs it as '16', however my citations that are futher on in the document do not update, a.k.a the previous citation '16' stays as 16 (even though it should update to 17) and therefore all my references are out of sort. The bibliography updates fine, but other citations do not. Any help if massively appreciated.
  • that is no a general issues - usually this just works.
Have you clicked the "Refresh" button in the word plugin?
Have you tried this in a new document to see if that is always the case? (i.e. start with a fresh document, insert "(1) blah blah (2)" and the insert a new reference between the two blahs and see if the (2) updates to (3).
Have you tried with other numerical citation styles (IEEE for example)
Did you use "Show Editor" to edit citations at any point?
  • I have tried using the 'refresh' button and loading the document in a new word file. However I have been using the editor to superscript all my citations..........? Thanks for the quick reply
  • Uh oh just tried it without editing it and it works..... Is thre a way to set superscipt as default then? My bad
  • there is a Vancouver with superscript style on the repository - http://www.zotero.org/styles - use that. If you need the numbers in superscript _and_ parentheses you'd have to edit the style - wouldn't be hard to do either - if it's a requirement for a journal I might have time to do it for you.
