Using APA 7.0
Even when reference contains less than 5 authors, the first in-text citation is showing up as only the last name of the first author and et al. and year. For instance, (Smith, et al., 2020). Even though there is at least one other author. I thought it was only supposed to use et al. starting with the second in-text citation. I also thought et al. is used on the first in-text citation if there are more than 5 (or 7?) authors.
I am not sure how to correct this. Please inform. Thank you.
