Im Connected To Wifi But Wont Sync With Harddrive

I am not tech savvy at all. I downloaded everything. I am logged into my account. When I download an article it does download it from the web browser to the Zotero on my hard drive. I am also a part of a group for school. It is NOT linking to my hard ware. I try and do the sync option and it says "Error connecting to server. Check your Internet connection" even though I am connected to the WIFI.
