Upload .docx file to Gdocs, will the references remain linked after it's transformed to a Gdoc

Hi,

I'm working on a collaborative document in GDocs. Now I need to download it to send it to the editors as a .docx file (or .odt). I was wondering if the references will remain linked once I download the document and if I will be able to re-upload the document once the comments are back.
