Sync error - "Error connecting to server. Check your internet connection"

Hi

I am trying to sync the app on my mac with my account but I keep getting told to check my internet connection. I have tried to sync with my home wifi and with my phone personal hotspot but continue to get the same error message.
Any ideas what I can do to fix it?
