Where does Zotero save the references that users have created in their Word document? My own references are in various different folder in Zotero library, but the references in my Word document must be saved somewhere else. Where could I find them and can I export them?

Zotero embeds metadata in the document, in case the items in your library are deleted or another Zotero users without access to your library opens your document.

As long as the citations are linked to your library, Zotero will continue to use the metadata from your library and simply update the citations in the document as you make changes in Zotero.

Otherwise, you can use Reference Extractor to extract embedded items from a document, but you'll need to reinsert the citations if you want to use them in the same document, since the extracted items won't have any connection to the citations.
