Releasing storage

So I've started a group project and I've found that we can upload PDFs in Zotero's reference. However, I didn't have noticed that my free account has a limited capacity. As our group has many collaborators we achieved these limits in 2 weeks. The project will take 2 years and so we decided to not store any file in Zotero. However, the group was created in my personal account, and as we removed the PDFs the storage didn't empty. I want to know what is going on and how can I empty my storage without deleting someone's reference. Thanks for helping me out.
