Self-Adjust

Hi,

I am using a new MAC and Word Version 16.

I am typing a large document. When I go back to try to add a new citation in the middle of the paper, my Zotero is not self-adjusting the citations that come after it and messes up all of the citations.
I've updated Zotero and re-installed the Word plug in and nothing has worked.

Please tell me what to do to correct this. I'm on a deadline, so I hope someone can help quickly!
  • What exactly is happening when you add a new citation?
  • Example: I have 40 citations. If I try to go to the sentence before citation number 40 and add a new one. That new citation should be number 40 and Zotero should self-adjust the last citation to 41.
However, when I add the new citation - it logs it as 40, but then the last citation has (4041), instead of just being 41.

If I try to enter a new citation after citation number 20-- it will mess up everything that is after number 20 and add random numbers to them, instead of self-adjusting completely.
  • What versions of Zotero and Word are you using?
  • Zotero 5.0.69
    Word 16.26

I tried to update everything to the most recent version.
  • Does citation work in a new document? There was a bug introduced by Word about 1.5 years ago that was fixed then, but an older document might have gotten some corrupted citations in it.

For example: Instead of Citation(1) and Cit (2).
It will do Citation (1) and Cit(122)
