Zotero not working

I have downloaded Zotero and the connector and It says its offline. I am just trying to do a school assignment and its not working. Someone please help me.
  • I'm having the same issue! As directed I opened http://127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping... and it says zotero connector is available...but the chrome extention is still saying that its offline???
  • See the linked page.
  • I am having the same issue and none of the solutions on the linked page are working for me. In addition I am unable to submit an error report through the Chrome Zotero extension. When I try, I get the following error message:

" An error occurred submitting your error report.
HTTP request to https:/www.zotero.org/repo/report rejected with status 0
Please check your Internet connection. If the problem persists, please post a message to the Zotero forums."

I have disabled my antivirus program, and I have checked and unchecked all my browser extensions. In addition, the problem arises only on my work machine — everything works fine at home where I am using the same browser and the same extensions. So it must have something to do with the way my work network is directing the request, yes?

One more piece of information: I have no difficulty connecting to http://127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping. When I try, the response is "Zotero Connector Server is Available."

Any suggestions? For now, my workaround response is to use Zotero only at home.
  • So it must have something to do with the way my work network is directing the request, yes?
Not really — it's something within the browser. Loading http://127.0.0.1:23119/connector/ping tests the network, and the fact that you can access that from the same browser means the network is OK. But if the Zotero Connector shows Zotero as unavailable, there's some restriction in the browser that's preventing it from making the exact same network request. That's almost always some other browser extension interfering, and I don't know what it would be otherwise.
  • It was not another extension, because [1] it works fine on my laptop and home machine with the exact same extensions installed, and more importantly [2] I finally thought to uninstall and reinstall Zotero Connector, and the problem went away – even with all the same extensions active.

Next time I'll try that first [and you might add that to your list of of possible fixes at https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/connector_zotero_unavailable.] Thanks.
  • I've added that as a suggestion.
