Et al.

Why does "et al." appears in some references and in others it includes all the authors. I am interested on the "et al" whenever there are more than one author.

I am working on Word 2016 (Office) and APA 6th edition standard.
  • The rules for APA style are to list up to 5 authors the first time an item is cited and up to 2 authors for all subsequent citations. There are lots of styles that use et al for 3+ authors, so there are very few that use them for 2+ (technically that's also grammatically wrong as et al., "and others", implies there is more than one additional author).

If you want different et al. rules I'd suggest using a different citation style.
