Urgent: How to add a, b, c to sources with same author and year?

Can somebody please help me solve this problem? It's really urgent!

I'm using Chicago Manual 17 (note, ibd.).

Could also use an other style, important for me:
- "ebd." for same sources
- "et al."
- author date-style

Thanks!

  • I hope I'm posting this in the right thread.

I have an a, b, and c problem too, using the Chicago 17 author-date style. Multiple works by the same author, published in the same year do not aphabetize by the title of the work, but by the date of publication within that year.
    E.g.:
Lor, Peter Johan. 2007a. ‘Libraries in Times of Open Access’. Information Services and Use 27 (4): 193–203.
———. 2007b. ‘International Advocacy for Information Ethics: The Role of IFLA’. International Review of Information Ethics 7 (September): n.p. http://www.i-r-i-e.net/inhalt/007/20-lor.pdf.

After some puzzling I discovered the cause of the problem. In this style Zotero is sorting by date. When citations are downloaded from the web, the date of publication often includes a month and day. In the case of item 2007b above this appears in my database as 2007 Sept, while for item 2007a the date appears simply as 2007. Hence the order given above.

I understand that Chicago wants us to sort by author -- year -- title, not author -- date -- title. Maybe this is something that should be fixed?
