Updating journal articles added when they were "in Press"

Hi,
I am quite new to Zotero and would like to enquire if a specific function is available in Zotero.
Currently, I add journal articles into my library, sometimes when they are "in press", i.e., before they get their issue #, pg#, etc. Once the article is finally published, is there any automatic or direct option to update those details in my library, without adding it as a new item or manually adding the details?

The easiest way is to create a new item via Add Item by Identifier (the magic wand button) using the DOI and then select both items, right-click, and choose Merge Items.

An upcoming version will allow you to update existing items without going through the extra merge step.
