Unable to update citation style in document

Hi

I am using Word 2016 and latest version of Zotero. I am able to insert new citations but i am unable to change the citation style. Every time i try to do that I get the error message:

Zotero experienced an error in updating your document.
An unhandled exception occured. [convertToNoteType:field.cpp]

I have tried deleting half the document and to find a problem citation etc but it hasnt worked.

Any help would me much appreciated.

If, as I'd guess is the case, you're using a citation style with endnotes, convert to footnotes first, then change the style

See the Debugging Broken Documents steps. Unless you're saying you can delete everything in the document and it still doesn't work, those steps are pretty much guaranteed to get to the bottom of this.

(in >9 of 10 cases you should take dstillman's advice over mine, but I'm pretty confident this is one of the rare cases where I'm right)

Many thanks both. Changing the citation style to footnote first has solved the problem.
