Citation/Bibliography in word does not alphabetize automatically

So, I noticed that when I add citations separately i.e. citations 1-4 added, then 5-7 added..etc...etc... The groups of citations are alphabetized together but not as a whole. Is this something other people have noticed?

This is controlled by the citation style. What style are you using?

The style makes no effort to sort alphabetical at all (nor do I think NLM asks for that), so if you're seeing alphabetic sorting that's likely a byproduct of how you're inserting citations.
