Bib by Date

Is there a way to sort this bib by date?
I'm doing intelligence journalism and it would be super helpful if I could sort this bib by date (accessed, written, etc.) This way I can understand the flow of events based on the bib?

Cheers ~
Jimbo

  • Sort order is controlled by the citation style you use. What style are you using?
  • Obviously, bibliographies are typically not sorted by date as the first sort category, though. We have one citation style that does this:
    https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:apa-cv

Other citation styles could be adapted.
  • Sorry for delay in reply.
I was able to find a few styles that would work by sorting the list by date added before creating the citation. Which style off the top of my head I don't remember. I want to say it was one of the IEEE styles. I could be wrong.

Thanks to pointing me to looking at other styles than what comes with initial install.

  • Those are just numeric styles that sort by order added. The reason they work when generating a bibliography like that is because of how you sorted in the app. If you use them in the Word processor, that won’t work.
  • Glad to know that the APA-CV style sorts by date. I also need to modify that so that an abstract is included. Is that possible? Thanks.
  • Start with this style:
    https://www.zotero.org/styles/?q=id:apa-annotated-bibliography

Then, open it and replace the contents of the bibliography "sort" section with the sort code from the APA CV style:
    https://www.zotero.org/styles/?q=id:apa-cv

Then, change the style title and ID at the top of the file and import into Zotero.
  • Thanks! I'll give it a try.
