ZOTERO ICON DISAPPEARD

Hello,
Zotero disappeared on my firfeox. I have been trying to download again and again zotero, but zotero's icon doesn't works : "zotero is not available". My library doesn't appear. I tried to follow zotero's website advices but nothing has changed.
Please, can you tell me how can I get back my library, without open the website ?
Thanks a lot for you help and sorry for my french language.

  • Have you downloaded and installed the Standalone Zotero app?
    http://zotero.org/download

    See here:
    https://www.zotero.org/blog/a-unified-zotero-experience/
  • Yes I dit it several times but it still notes "Zotero is currently unavailable. If Zotero is open, see the troubleshooting page.", but no advice about troubleshooting page worked.
  • PS : on my toolbar it is not the Z icon but a book. And I cannot open my library with this button
  • That is the expected appearance for the button on a page with a book item. To confirm, you do have the Standalone Zotero app open when you are trying to save the item, correct?

If yes, can you please submit an Error Report ID (https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems) and a Debug ID (https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output) for an attempt to save an item that fails?
  • Yes, it is right. I'll submit this error, then.
And last question, I read that this new button brings same tools as the ancient one, so is it not normal that i cannot open my library with it, is it ?
thanks a lot for your help
  • To open Zotero, you open it like any other app on your computer (e.g., by clicking the button in the task bar or Start menu).
  • Ok so I don't have this button on my task bar, whereas it was there before, with the Z icon but it disappeard.
I try to post Error report ID and Debug ID
  • The task bar in your operating system, not in Firefox. Zotero is now a completely separate app that only connects with Firefox for importing items. To open Zotero, you need to open it like any other program on your computer.
  • From @LauraD2009 in other threads:

    Debug ID: D1302530544
    Report ID: 936402337

@LauraD2009 Please read the post I linked to very carefully. The Save to Zotero button never used to open Zotero. That was the separate "Open Zotero" button next to the Save button. The separate button is no longer possible in the current Firefox extension framework because Zotero now exists only as a separate program that is completely distinct from your browser. As I've said several times, you need to open Zotero like you do any other program on your computer (e.g., Word), such as by using the Start menu.
  • Ah ok, I understand ! And you right, I have an icon on my desk ! I had few difficulties to understand this change ! Sorry for my mistakes and thank you again.
Now that I understand that, I'm trying to import my library beacause it is only on the website and not in the application. A new challenge for me...
  • Ok, I succeeded to sync my library.
Thank you very much and sorry again for my difficulties.
  • No problem. Glad to help.
