Does Zotero library have a maximum size?

No. The only limit is online storage space for attachment files, which you can disable if not needed, use a third party cloud server, or purchase additional storage. I'm your local Zotero database, the program can start to slow down if you have hundreds of thousands of items--but I have routinely worked with a database with more than 40,000 items (with attachments) in it without problems.
