Edit citation

Hi everyone,

I have a dissertation, need to insert a citation to the 1st sentence. The second sentence already contains a citation "1" (AMA style).

When I insert the citation to the first sentence it gets cited as "2". I need the first sentence to be cited as "1" and all the following citation numbers need to change.

I am using standalone version, Word 16 for Mac OS X El Capitan. Any suggestions?

Do the following numbers change currently? I.e. does the 2nd citation (now the third) go up to 3?
If so, why don't you try deleting "1" and re-inserting it after adding the new first citation?
