sorry, I'm a little confused still what you're trying to install. If you're on https://www.zotero.org/download/ you pick one side. Either you install Zotero Standalone and the add-on for your browser of choice or you install Zotero for Firefox (and potentially the word processor add-on you want).
Which of the two do you want? In the first case, you first install Standalone, then follow the link to the browser extension of choice, install that, then run Standalone and your browser at the same time.
If you want the Firefox add-on, you install it like any other Firefox add-on, i.e. you open it in Firefox. It requires Firefox restart to work (but it will say so).
sorry, but I really need you to be a little more wordy in your answers/posts. I'm still not sure what you have and what you haven't installed and where you're looking.
When i go into word document i do not have zotero symbol. I do not have zotero toolbar. when i look at word add-ins i do not have zotero add-in to manage
You can certainly try. I'd be surprised if it helped, but you never know. But this really isn't that hard -- it's finding the Word start-up folder and making sure a file is placed in it.

I went here https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_integration and downloaded windows plugin. I already have zotero in firefox. i am trying to get zotero to talk to word 2016
If so, Zotero should appear in its tab in Word (the tab is labeled "Zotero"). Are you saying that's not the case?
