  • What's the exact message you're receiving? I'm pretty sure it's not that. (Among other things, it'd be "XULRunner", not "XUL Runner", so I'm guessing you're paraphrasing or translating.) Copy and paste from the error message if possible.
  • Hey,

of course you're right I'm paraphrasing & translating. These are the details (as I am german I pushed the german version though google translator):

    thy for the efforts
  • No, that's the point — we want the original message, not a translated version.
  • Seems like the equivalent English message here is "has stopped working", which is a Windows error.

How much RAM do you have on this computer, and have you tried starting Zotero immediately after restarting your computer and before starting any other programs? It looks like your Zotero is trying to download your entire library, which is quite large, and crashing in the process.

Do you have any other computers where Zotero is fully in sync already?
  • I have 8GB RAM just tested your suggestion, to no avail. Stilkl got this message:

My home laptop works just fine with the lated sync.

As i have the entire library already on this pc this seems odd, there are jeust a few changes (including a new subcollection).
  • This computer is doing a full download of your library, which can happen for a few reasons. This should normally work fine, but it's apparently overwhelming your computer — Windows can be a bit fragile in this regard.

The easiest thing to do at this point would be to manually transfer the zotero.sqlite file from the Zotero data directory on your other computer to this one (using Dropbox, etc.). Before doing so, you can export any new items on this computer to Zotero RDF (sorting by Date Added in the middle pane) and maybe take a screenshot of the items in the new subcollection, and then import those items into the transferred database.

The next major version of Zotero, due out soon, will avoid situations like this where a full download is necessary, and it should better handle syncing of very large libraries (which yours is) in general.
  • Hello

I am having the same problem on a laptop. In my case I'm only trying to import (having exported using Zotero RDF format) 262 references with notes and files. This doesn't seem like a huge database yet it keeps crashing. I get a partial import which is a bit random in terms of what has come in... then if I try again I get duplicates but still a partial import.

This is supposed to be part of a process to get a sub collection online so I can share it; I tried this option because I don't want to upload/share my entire library. I'm using a different machine and a different zotero account to do the import so I don't confuse when I go to put the collection online.

    Its driving me nuts.
  • crashing as in Firefox shuts down?
Could you send a crash report and post its ID here?

  • Same questions Dan was asking above:
Is the data directory in a custom location? How much Ram do you have available?
    Is auto sync disabled?
