Metadatas available but not parent file created

As I start searching for metadatas of journal articles, the progression box shows that metadatas can be found, but actually no parent files are being created...

So this is right-click --> retrieve metadata?
And what does it say in the box that signals that Zotero finds metadata?

Yes,
in the progress box it shows a green tick and the metadatas it retrieved: title, author, etc.
But nothing happens in the zotero library, i am still left with my pdfs without parent files...

I've never seens this -- you'r positive you're not looking at a duplicate of that PDF?

If so, please provide a debug ID that covers the whole process:
