'Could not Save Item'

My browser has just updated the latest version of zotero but when I try to save a reference i keep getting this 'could not save item'.

my error log number is: 2119354962.
  • Run through these: http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues
and if 1-10 don't help, provide all the information requested under 11.
  • [JavaScript Error: "TypeError: can't access dead object" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/fulltext.js" line: 515}]
Do you get this every time?

If so, first try disabling your other non-Zotero-provided extensions and, if it still occurs, provide a Debug ID for a save attempt that produces it.
  • Several websites are not working but others are like Amazon.

some of the websites that are not:

I'm running Zotero on Windows 8.1 with Firefox 38.0.5.

EDIT: These problems only occur with Zotero Standalone 4.0.27
    Sorry about that.
many thanks, is there anything Else I need to include?
  • So you're saying the problem doesn't occur with Zotero Standalone closed, saving to Zotero for Firefox directly?

@Dan -- what would be the best way to get debug for that?

Let's see if Simon or Aurimas have any ideas on this first, since there were some document/cookie-related changes with the connectors in 4.0.27. (The error is trying to access document.title.)
  • Zotero 4.0 for firefox works fine. When I close this and open Zotero Standalone it does not works.
  • oh and thanks for your time guys.
  • I was able to reproduce the issue with theconversation.com and Simon actually fixed that a few hours ago https://github.com/zotero/zotero/commit/43e1c5c123fa9a2303d51c20bebe8ff8b1327c3e but the error did not manifest the same way as described above. I just saw the popup saying "Saving to..." without ever finishing. This is with Zotero Standalone open and saving via Zotero for Firefox.

Dan, is the original Error report from Standalone? Which website was that for?
  • Dan, is the original Error report from Standalone?
Yes. We haven't received any other reports with that error, though.
  • referencejunkie: At least some of the above failures may be due to a different issue, but upgrade to 4.0.27.1 and try again.
  • Hello, I have reinstalled Zotero and all seems to be working fine atm. Thanks again.
