Bug report on removing authors

To reproduce:

Step 1: Have a report with six authors: "Author 1" through "Author 6" respectively, in full-name format (not Last, First format).
Step 2: Click in the box for Author 2. The full name is selected. Cut or Delete the name. The box is now empty.
Step 3: Click out of the box on another field to save the change.
Step 4: Observe that the line for that author is now gone.

UNEXPECTED: Observe that Author 4 is also gone.

Step 5: Similarly remove Author 1.

UNEXPECTED: Author 5 is now also gone.

The pattern seems to be that the intended author is removed, as well as not the next author in the list but the one after that.

The expected behavior is that only the author that the user removed, is removed.
  • yeah, I can confirm that.

You know that you can simply remove an author by clicking on the - button next to it, though, right? Obviously the above still shouldn't happen and we'll fix it, but the reasons this has never come up is that it's not something you'd normally do.
  • The action used here was Cut, not Delete, with the intention of reordering the author list in a way that seemed easier than all the "search/click/scan/find/click on Move up/down" steps involved in using those Move Up or Move Down options, and (without this bug) is more efficient when moving down more than one or two. Checking later to find that other authors had been removed was a surprise, that a lot of people might not double-check for.
